God
is our audience in worship at Leverington; Pastor Will, the choir
and the congregation are all full participants in the act of worship.
The music, litanies and prayers are all centered around the scripture
selections for the day. Scripture passages are read from the Old and
New Testaments following a special calendar of Christian celebrations.
Church is a place where the special issues and problems of current-day
Christians can be dealt with both Biblically and theologically, and
church is the only institution that takes God’s will and work in our
lives seriously. Sunday is “The Lord’s Day” and is a special day at
Leverington when adults make themselves subject to God’s Word and
accountable for their lives as God’s children.
The manner of worship at Leverington is similar in many respects to
the manner in which the early Christians worshipped. The singing of
hymns and songs of praise, corporate prayers, reading of the Scriptures,
use of music and proclamation of God’s Holy Word all serve God’s purposes
in reclaiming, renewing and revitalizing our lives as a whole and
providing inspiration, motivation and direction for our daily Christian
walk. We cherish these moments of worship, use them to reflect upon
our responsibilities, and use them to remind us throughout the coming
week of Whose and who we are.
Please join us in our joyful celebration in and of God’s presence!
